<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand held cleaning appliance which can be easily and comfortably operated. <P>SOLUTION: The hand-held cleaning appliance comprises a suction conduit having a first longitudinal axis, an airflow generator for generating an airflow along the suction conduit, a cyclone separating apparatus arranged in communication with the suction conduit and for separating dirt and dust from the airflow, a power source for supplying power to the airflow generator, and an elongate handle having a second longitudinal axis. The elongate handle is arranged between the air flow generator and the battery and is dimensioned and constituted to be gripped by a user's hand, and the longitudinal axis of the elongate handle intersects with the first longitudinal axis of the suction conduit by an angle in which the upper part of the elongate handle inclines toward the suction conduit.
