A storage device comprises: a drive unit including a plurality of storage drives which provides a physical storage area for preparing a logical storage area used by an external device, a drive interface unit which performs data input/output to and from the storage drives, and a power source which supplies operation power to the storage drives and the drive interface unit; a storage control unit including a plurality of computation devices which performs via the drive interface unit the data input/output processing including data writing processing from the external device to the storage drives and data reading processing from the storage drives, and a drive control interface unit which issues a command to the drive interface unit upon a request from each of the computation devices; a failure presence-absence indicator storage unit, which, when each of the computation devices performs data input/output processing via a data path that is a communication path for performing data transfer with the drive interface unit of the drive unit, records for each data path whether or not the data input/output processing has been successfully performed; and a failure detecting unit which performs power failure detecting processing such that, when any of the plurality of computation devices determines that the data input/output processing with the drive interface unit has not been normally performed, the failure detecting unit determines if the results of the data input/output processing respectively performed by other computation devices were recorded in the failure presence-absence indicator storage unit within a predetermined time after the abnormity of data input/output processing was recorded in the failure presence-absence indicator storage unit, and when a computation device that first detects the data input/output abnormity determines that the data input/output abnormity is recorded for all the data path in the failure presence-absence indicator storage unit, commands the suspension of the data input/output processing with respect to the drive unit where the data input/output processing abnormity is detected and other drive units that are connected on the downstream side of the drive unit.
