<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for diagnosing a failure of a hybrid vehicle, which detects a failure generated in a power module of a motor controller as a main component of a hybrid vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes a first to fourth processes of: (1) calculating an effective value by measuring each phase current of a sine waveform, outputted from the power module; (2) dividing the current of each phase the effective value of which has been calculated in the first process, into a "+" area and a "-" area with "0" as a basis, and calculating each effective value of the "+" area and the "-" area; (3) dividing the effective value calculated in the second process by the effective value calculated in the first process, extracting the result, and determining whether the result is asymmetric with the "zero" as the basis; and (4) outputting a failure generation flag when the determination result in the third process is determined as the asymmetric state, and lasts longer than a failure determination standard time, and then stopping the operation of the power module. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
