<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus including a toner concentration detection part for detecting concentration of toner and a cleaning member for cleaning a detection surface of the toner concentration detection part by performing a linear reciprocating motion, the apparatus capable of simplifying a driving mechanism and control of the cleaning member. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: a toner concentration detection part 110 for detecting concentration of toner; a cleaning member 130 for cleaning a detection surface 111 of the toner concentration detection part 110 by performing a linear reciprocating motion; a motor 140 including a rotary shaft 141; and a motion conversion part 150 for converting a rotary motion by the rotary shaft 141 into the linear reciprocating motion of the cleaning member 130.
