The device (10) has wiper arms (12, 14) movable in opposite wiping directions (16). Two washing nozzles (30, 32) are formed on the wiper arms and alternatively coupled with a pump through switchable valves i.e. two-way valves, for pressurizing a washer with washing liquid (22, 24). The valves comprise an inlet that is arranged upstream of the pump and connected with fluidically connected with one of two outlets based on the wiping directions of the wiper arms. The valves are electromechanically moved between two switching states. An independent claim is also included for a method for cleaning a window pane of a motor vehicle.
