The invention relates to a method for preparing a polymer grafted onto an elastomer, said method including at least the following steps: (a) loading a reactor with water, an emulsifier, and an aromatic vinyl elastomer in the form of an emulsion in water; then (b) adding at least one initiator capable of forming free radicals and vinyl chloride monomers and possibly other monomers that can be copolymerised with the vinyl chloride monomers; and (c) agitating and heating the reaction medium to a temperature of 40°C to 80°C before, during, and/or after step (b) in order to obtain said polymer. The invention also relates to a polymer grafted onto an aromatic vinyl elastomer.
