<p>Provided is a lead storage battery for auxiliary machinery, with which the problem of overflow of electrolyte is solved, even when the lead storage battery is left in a highly discharged state. The lead storage battery is provided with: a battery case; partitions which divide the battery case to form a plurality of cell compartments; a plurality of electrode plate groups which are accommodated in each of the cell compartments and comprise a positive pole plate and negative pole plate that are laminated with a mat separator therebetween; electrolyte which is accommodated in the cell compartments; and a cover which closes the apertures of each of the cell compartments. The positive pole plate and the negative pole plate are totally immersed in the electrolyte. The cover is provided with small chambers in each of a plurality of portions corresponding to the apertures of the cell compartments. The small chambers communicate with the interior of the cell compartments by means of a first ventilation hole and communicate with the outside by means of a second ventilation hole. The cross-sectional area at the narrowest portion in the first ventilation hole is at least 0.03 mm² but no more than 0.4 mm².</p> |
