LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to selectively utilize scanning backlight driving technologies by analyzing an input image, thereby reducing side effects due to optical interference. CONSTITUTION: Light source blocks emit light to an LCD panel(10). A light source driver operates the light source blocks according to a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) duty. A backlight controller analyzes an input image. The backlight controller derives a caption region from a display screen of the LCD panel. The backlight controller reduces the PWM duty of a light source block corresponding to the caption region smaller than the PWM duty of other light source blocks.
