sFlt1 in patients with ischemic stroke

The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing cardiac ischemia associated with an ischemic stroke. Said method is based on determining the amount of sFlt1 in a sample from said patient, and comparing the amount to a reference amount. Moreover, the present invention envisages a method for monitoring cardiac ischemia in a patient with ischemic stroke and a method of identifying a subject being susceptible to a further therapy for lowering the blood pressure. Said methods are based on determining the amount of sFlt1 in a first and second sample from said patient, and comparing the amount in the first sample to the amount in the second sample. Further encompassed by the present invention are kits and devices for carrying out the said methods.
