PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing porous reaction-bonded silicon nitride and the porous reaction-bonded silicon nitride are provided to simultaneously increase the permeability and the trapping efficiency of a reaction-bonded silicon nitride sintered body by arranging both coarse pores and micro pores in the sintered body. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing porous reaction-bonded silicon nitride includes the following: A raw material containing silicon and a sintering agent, which manufactures a silicon nitride sintered body based on the silicon, is granulated. The granulated raw material is molded in a metal mold without pressure. The molded body is reaction-bonded under the nitrogen atmosphere and is nitrified. The nitrified molded body is sintered. |
