PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to improve brightness for improving image quality. CONSTITUTION: A liquid display device includes an LED array and a lamp driving unit. A liquid crystal panel(200) receives light from the LED array. The LED array(LA) is classified into a plurality of strings(ST1,ST2,ST3,ST4). The plurality of strings is comprised of a plurality of LEDs(903a). The lamp driving unit supplies different currents to the plurality of strings.
