The system (1) has a single focusing optics (2) focusing an incident beam (100) from a scene to be displayed on sensors (3, 4) having identical spectral response curves. A separation unit (5) e.g. separating blade, separates flow of the beam (101) from the focusing optics into predetermined fractions (102, 103). A merging unit (7) merges images output from the sensors to generate a final image. The separation unit directs the fractions of flow of beam towards the sensors, respectively, and a control unit (6) utilizes a gain control algorithm.
