The apparatus has an electrode (2) for mounting on a wall surface, where a current is applied to the electrode as an alternating current. The current function comprises a positive half wave and a negative half wave. An integral of the curve of the positive half wave is differently formed to an integral of the curve of the negative half wave. The net-like electrode is made of a conductive material, particularly metal or plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for removal of masonry.
