<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recorder which reduces the damage of a recording head and a recording medium by exactly determining an abnormality of a load caused by the contact of a carriage or the recording head with the recording medium when the carriage moves in real time. <P>SOLUTION: A reference load is set on the basis of a load when moving the carriage in predetermined timing in a state that the recording medium does not exist, and is compared with a load when moving the carriage in a state that the recording medium exists. The reference load is updated in the predetermined timing in the state that the recording medium does not exist.
