<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a free stop door which facilitates the door opening/closing operation, which surely and stably keep the halting state of the door while opening the door or in the middle of opening and closing the door in a determined position, and which can be easily and safely used. <P>SOLUTION: The free stop door includes: slide rails provided on the right and left inside faces of a storage body (box body); a pair of pulleys (sheave/rotor) with a groove; a second sliding body attached to the door fitted to one slide rail; a first sliding body mounting a balance weight (weight) fitted to the other slide rail; and a wire suspending and connecting to the sliding body. The balance weight (weight), of which weight is the same as the weight of a door body, is mounted on the first sliding body, so that the balance of the weight between the door body and the balance weight is maintained.
