PURPOSE: A semiconductor device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by reducing a voltage without increasing power potential when data is written. CONSTITUTION: An output terminal of a diode(216) is electrically connected to a first signal line. One side of a source and a drain of a first transistor(204) is electrically connected to the first signal line. The other side of the source and the drain of the first transistor is electrically connected to a reference potential line. A gate of a second transistor(202) is electrically connected to the first signal line. One side of a source and a drain of the second transistor is electrically connected to the second signal line. The other side of the source and the drain of the second transistor is electrically connected to a functional circuit.
