<p>An electric or hybrid vehicle 11 is immobilized whilst connected to a charging station 12 by a cable 13. The vehicle includes a means of breaking a physical connection to the charging station by remotely disconnecting and releasing the cable on demand from the driver's seat, thereby overriding immobilization of the vehicle. A release device for the cable may comprise a spring operated connector ejector mechanism. The invention provides a means of ensuring rapid drive-away in the event of a threat to the vehicle driver during charging of the vehicle.</p> |
