A bridge rectifier consists of support plates 12, 13 (Fig. 1) each carrying two semi-conductor diodes, and terminal plates 14, 15 mounted on a spindle 11 with insulating spacers 16. The anodes of the diodes on plate 12 and the cathodes of those on plate 13 are interconnected through these plates while the unconnected cathodes and anodes are joined in pairs to terminal plates 14, 15 respectively to complete the bridge circuit. The support plates are preferably elliptical with their major axes mutually perpendicular and carry the diodes at their foci, while the terminal plates are of strip form. Alternatively square support plates are used with the diodes at opposite pairs of corners.</p> |
