The method for diagnosing the bronchial asthma in schoolchildren for selecting the treatment strategy provides for assaying nitrous oxide metabolites and proteolytic activity in condensate of the expired air by lysis of azocol. When the content of nitrous oxide metabolites exceeds 47 µmol/L and proteolytic activity by lysis of azocol is less than 0.24 mL/h, the severe bronchial inflammation is diagnosed requiring the increased extent of corticosteroid therapy.
