The appliance has an infrared (IR) sensor (32) arranged below a hob plate and comprising an IR-sensor element (43) for detecting infrared light of a cooking utensil that is placed on the hob plate. IR reflectors e.g. optical concentrators and Winston cone-shaped reflectors, are arranged below the hob plate and mounted upstream of the IR-sensor element in an optical manner. The IR reflectors are provided on a housing (42) surrounding the IR-sensor element. The IR reflectors comprise an electrically conductive case (47) surrounding the IR-sensor element. The IR-sensor element is designed as an IR diode element. The IR reflectors comprise cup shaped inner carriers (49) and reflective layer (54). |
