<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that can restrain, for a distance measuring device that measures the distance to an object having reflected a light wave emitted from the device itself, incidence of ambient light even where a highly sensitive light receiving element is used for a light receiving unit. <P>SOLUTION: A radar controller so exercises control, after emission of a light wave by a light emitting unit, as to let the light wave come incident on a light receiving unit only during a period in which reflected waves within a prescribed measuring range can be detected (S220, S230, S250 and S260); the radar controller calculates the distance to an object having reflected the light wave on the basis of an output from the light receiving unit (S240); a radar device having such a configuration can prevent the light receiving unit from letting the light wave come incident except during the period in which the reflected waves within the prescribed measuring range can be detected; therefore, incidence of ambient light can be restrained without restraining the luminous energy of the reflected light, and the distance to the object can be measured satisfactorily. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
