PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting display device having an inexpensive and simple configuration and capable of providing a stable operation and supplying a power by effectively using characteristics in the structure of the light-emitting device such as a round fan; and to provide a method for controlling the light-emitting display device.

SOLUTION: The light-emitting device according to the present invention includes: a device body in which a plurality of light-emitting means are disposed at least in one direction and, when the device body is turned to a direction crossing with the one direction, allows the light-emitting means to emit light according to the movement of the device body and performs a prescribed image display using the afterimage effect. This light-emitting device includes: reversion timing detecting means for detecting a reversion timing of the movement of the device body; light emission control means for drivingly controlling the light-emitting means to lightingly perform a display according to a light emission pattern stored in storage means based on the reversion timing detected by the reversion timing detecting means; and an electromotive force part for supplying the light-emitting means, the storage means and the light emission control means with electric power.
