PURPOSE: Transmission control unit and method for the rapid acceleration and the prevention of the rapid acceleration of a vehicle are provided to secure the driving ability and the stability of the vehicle when a malfunction is occurred on a torque monitoring module of an engine control unit. CONSTITUTION: A transmission control unit for the rapid acceleration and the prevention of the rapid acceleration of a vehicle comprises the following: an information collecting unit(210) collecting information regarding abnormal acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle; a safety function processing unit(230) requesting the engine torque control to an engine control unit if the abnormal acceleration and deceleration is detected; a rapid acceleration and deceleration determining unit determining the abnormal acceleration and deceleration based on the information obtained from the information collecting unit; and a safety function processing unit requesting the turning on of a warning lamp to a dashboard control module after alarming the malfunction of a torque control module to the engine control unit, and resetting engine control unit or controlling the transmission to the neutral position by force.
