PURPOSE: A soft reset control device of an optical disc drive and a method thereof are provided to prevent abnormal communication disconnection from a host by a quick soft reset operation. CONSTITUTION: If an ODD(Optical Disk Drive) is turned on, a control unit stores identification information and information about a system booting operation(S10). The control unit interfaces with a host(S12). If the control unit enters a reset mode, the control unit distinguishes whether it is a soft reset mode by referring to the identification information(S14,S16). The control unit reads the stored major information related to communication while power is on. The control unit restores communication with the host(S18).
