<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique related to a light receiving element which performs two or more kinds of operations. <P>SOLUTION: In an imaging device, the light receiving element includes: a plurality of photoelectric conversion parts for generating electric charges corresponding to an exposure; a plurality of charge storage parts for storing the electric charges generated from the photoelectric conversion parts; a charge transfer part for transferring the electric charges generated from the photoelectric conversion parts to the charge storage parts; and a plurality of distribution gate parts provided between the charge transfer part and the charge storage parts, for controlling the entry of the electric charges from the charge transfer part to the charge storage parts by being opened and closed. The charge transfer part is in contact with the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts, the plurality of distribution gates and the plurality of charge storage parts. The charge storage parts and the distribution gate parts have a projection part to be in contact with the charge transfer part with respect to the direction where the photoelectric conversion part corresponding to themselves is positioned. In the case of a first operating state, the distribution gate is opened so as not to overlap with the other distribution gates during exposure.
