<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens compatibly attaining the retention of high optical performance and cost reduction in the zoom lens of a negative preceding type having an optical path folding member in the optical path; and to provide an image pickup apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: This zoom lens includes, in order from an object side to an image side, at least a first lens group of a negative refractive power, a second lens group of a positive refractive power, and a third lens group having a lens. An interval between the first lens group and the second lens group is narrower in a telephoto end than that in a wide-angle end, and an interval between the second lens group and the third lens group changes when varying power from the wide-angle end to the telephoto end. The first lens group comprises, in order from the object side, a front-side sub lens group of a negative refractive power, the optical path folding member, and a rear-side sub lens group of the positive refractive power. The front sub lens group comprises a simple biconcave lens, the rear-side sub lens group comprises one or two simple lenses, the total number of the positive lenses of the rear-side sub lens group is one, and this zoom lens satisfies prescribed conditional expressions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
