<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a user's walking situation accurately regardless of carrying positions while securing a real-time feature. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 2 of a smartphone 1 detects a landing half-wave HW based on a waveform of a vertical acceleration value A3, calculates a landing half-wave ratio R that is the ratio of a landing half-wave interval T1 to a landing half-wavelength T2, and compares the landing half-wave ratio R with a ratio threshold TH. At this moment, the control unit 2 determines that the landing half-wave HW corresponds to one step if the landing half-wave ratio R is less than the ratio threshold TH, otherwise determines that the landing half-wave HW corresponds to two steps. Based on the determination result, the control unit 2 updates a number of consecutive steps WC, and a number of cumulative steps WS, etc., and generates walk information F.
