Splice connection between two optical fibres and method for producing such a splice connection

The connector (1) has a fiber casing (5) resting at a fiber core (4). The fiber core in connection regions (8, 10), which extend from spliced ends (9, 11) of double core fibers (2, 3) in a fiber longitudinal direction along preset length, is completely removed. The ends of the fibers are arranged in a support sleeve (12) formed as e.g. surface spreader. The sleeve has a section (16) extending over the casing of one of the fibers. The sleeve is directly connected with the connection regions of the fiber or over an intermediate sleeve with the fiber core of the fiber in a mechanical manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for creating a splice connector between optical fibers.
