The method involves arranging an interior component (18,20) in the passenger compartment (10), and activating the interior component provided with an electrically operable heating and cooling element (14,16), when the motor vehicle (12) is connected with an external power source (22). The interior component is brought to a predetermined temperature level deviating from an exterior or interior temperature by externally supplying electrical energy.
