<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and a control method therefor that realize suppression of image degradation of a superimposed image and improvement of detection accuracy of a cinema image. <P>SOLUTION: A method includes: dividing each field image into plural blocks to detect whether it is a cinema image for each block; categorizing each block as one of plural degrees depending on a possibility of being a cinema image on the basis of a detection result in a predefined period; determining an applicability (On) of cinema processing or inapplicability (Off) of the processing, for all screens, on the basis of a ratio or number of blocks categorized as degrees of the highest or lowest possibility of being a cinema screen. Specifically, the applicability of cinema processing is determined if there is a predefined ratio or number of blocks categorized as a degree of the highest possibility of not being a cinema image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
