<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and light magnesium based hard magnetic composite material having a hard magnetic property and a high mechanical strength at a room temperature and a high temperature as well as a manufacturing method of the material. <P>SOLUTION: Magnesium powder and barium ferrite powder, placed into a mixing device, are mixed by mechanical alloying. Consequently, because mechanical energy is imparted to the magnesium powder, strain is generated in the magnesium powder to facilitate work hardening thereof, and mechanical strength and hardness thereof are enhanced. This treatment produces a mixed powder consisting of the magnesium powder whose mechanical strength and hardness are enhanced and the barium ferrite powder. Placed into a mold, the mixed powder, under the application of an external magnetic field, is sintered in a discharge plasma sinter method, so that a sintered body is formed in which magnetic moment of each particle of the barium ferrite powder is unidirectional. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
