<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that supporting metal plates 21 and 22 require arms for positioning 21a and 22a, respectively, thereby decreasing the yield and costing, and to provide an inexpensive hermetic compressor without using an excess material. <P>SOLUTION: The supporting metal plate 121 is not integrated with, but is separately formed from the supporting metal plate 122, and thereby a material is reduced. A groove 119a and a hole 119b is arranged on a stator 119. Bending parts 121a and 122a, holes 121b and 122b, and bosses 124 are arranged on the supporting metal plates 121 and 122, respectively. The groove 119a and the bending part 121a (122a) are fitted each other, and are fixed to a block 111 with a stator fixing bolt 123 through the holes 121b (122b) and the holes 119b.
