The method involves receiving several image pickup elements (3) on the surface of a substrate (2), and an optical module (5) at the surface of a carrier element (4). The carrier element is up-soldered on the surface of substrate. The carrier element is partially up-soldered on the surface of the substrate, by plating process. The carrier elements are up-soldered during the same soldering process performed for receiving all other components. An independent claim is included for optical device.
