<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic video image display unit capable of reducing crosstalk when a single liquid crystal projector displays a stereoscopic video image. <P>SOLUTION: A signal processing section 101 transforms a 3D video signal to be input into a signal in which a left-eye signal and a right-eye signal are rearranged timewise alternately. A driver 102 for a liquid crystal display element has a sub-frame data creating section 26 which configures all of the sub-frames by a step-bit pulse and creates sub-frame data by a drive gradation table in which the last sub-frame becomes a drive state when drive gradation is 1, and a sub-frame that becomes the drive state increases by one towards the front of a sub-frame that is already in the drive state each time when the drive gradation increases by 1. A liquid crystal display element 6 is driven by the driver. An illumination optical system 1 allows illumination light to be incident to the liquid crystal display element.
