The printing machine (01) has hot-air dryer (03) equipped with a dryer system, and a fluid conduit for supply of gas or liquid supplied as heating fluid from a heat source (09) for direct heating of dryer or heat exchanger (16) provided for indirect heating of dryer. A heat store (24) is provided for heating the dryer, arranged in parallel to the fluid line and supplied with the fluid from the heat source. The heat store is formed with a chamber made of high temperature resistant, refractory or inert storage material. An independent claim is included for method for operating hot-air dryer.
