<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a satellite capturing method and device which realize the allocation of satellites to search modes corresponding to the change of a positioning environment. <P>SOLUTION: In a baseband processing circuit unit 20 of a satellite capturing device, a processor 25 determines a positioning environment and an operation load in accordance with a positioning environment determination condition 273 and an operation load determination condition 274 stored at a storage unit 27 as needed. The processor 25 sets the allocation of satellites to be captured to either of search modes of a mode A and a mode B according to the determined positioning environment and operation load as needed.
