[Also in Division A4] In apparatus for facilitating the bathing of sick or infirm persons and consisting of the combination of a carriage for transporting the person and a bath tub 1, each has a lifting and lowering device which includes a guiding device for a stretcher frame 41 and releasable means for blocking the frame against movement when correctly positioned on either of the guiding devices and means are provided for locking the two devices together in such a manner that the blocking means is released and the stretcher frame can be moved from one guide to the other. The bath tub 1 has four vertically adjustable legs and an opening for an hydraulic lifting device consisting of three telescopic cylinders 12, 13, 14 supporting a frame provided with rollers upon which the stretcher frame 41 may move. The carriage, Fig. 15, consists of a horizontal support with end arms 231 and castors 232 and vertical cylindrical fillers 236 acting as guides for sockets 237 supporting a similar roller frame which is movable vertically by means of an hydraulic cylinder 233 with piston 234 and pump housing 239. The carriage roller frame is also provided with wedge-shaped projections 210 which, when the lifting devices have been adjusted to the same height and the frames are moved together, engage rollers (202) on the bath tub roller frame to lock the frames together and at the same time lift a rail (216), which normally provides locking means to prevent the stretcher frame 41 moving on the frame, so that the stretcher frame can be moved from one frame to the other, the bath tub roller frame having a lever stretcher frame looking device which is engaged by a pin on the carriage frame to release it.</p> |
