PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route computing apparatus capable of speedily computing a route, using a small memory capacity. SOLUTION: The route computing apparatus comprises: an input information receiving means to which input information and a route computation request signal are supplied; a first route computing means 10b for computing a recommendation route and a recommendation branch route based on the input information; a feature point candidate computing means 10d for computing branch information, the number of road links and travel direction information as feature point candidate information; a feature point information computing means 10e for extracting the feature point candidate information which is computed in overtime of the route computation, as feature point information in order of descending number of the road links; a second route computing means 10f for computing a route, based on feature point history information including the feature point information; and a route computation determining means 10g which brings the second route computing means 10f to compute the route in the case that the supplied input information agrees with each input information of the feature point history information, and brings the first route computing means 10c to compute the route, when agreement does not take place, and the route computation request signal is supplied.
