A post for attaching the hollow stud element of a snap fastener unit comprises a base flange 12 and an open-ended barrel with a generally cylindrical wall 13, the wall having an inwardly formed neck 14 adjacent its upper end to provide a flared end section 15 of the barrel and a convex section 16 below the flared end section, the convex section providing a zone of uniform weakness when endwise pressure is applied to the barrel to cause the barrel to collapse outwardly in the zone of weakness. As shown the thickness of the barrel wall is substantially uniform throughout and the outer corner of the flared end section is sharp to provide a cutting edge for shearing through the material to which the stud element is attached. |
