In the manufacture of pile fabric by implanting rows of tufts in an adhesive layer, the pile already formed is covered by a member which has a horizontal surface to press the pile into the adhesive and a downwardly-disected flange to hold the pile vertical whilst the next row is being implanted. The member swings upwards whilst the adhesive layer is being advanced, then descends to embrace the tufts just formed. |
