METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING POWER CONSUMPTION IN TERMINAL USING SELF-EMITTING TYPE DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A method for reducing consumed power of a terminal with a self light emitting display and a device thereof are provided to reduce consumed power without lowering readability when content of an electronic book is read. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal(20) comprises the following units. A memory unit(21) stores target data. A self light emitting display unit(22) decodes data stored in the memory unit to output an image signal. An input unit(23) receives input of a user. A control unit(24) starts a power saving mode if a power saving mode start signal is generated by the input unit. A readable area is formed on a screen of the self emitting display unit and the brightness of the other areas is darker than the brightness of the readable area.
