PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit degradation in the appearance of the outboard motor due to surface sinking, while reliably sealing between a lower cover and an upper cover and to reduce weight of the outboard motor.
SOLUTION: In a sealing member 5 disposed between an edge upper end 2A of a lower cover 2 of the outboard motor and an edge lower end 3A of an upper cover 3 of the motor, the following parts are formed: a first supporting part 25 for determining a mounting position in a vertical direction of the upper cover 3 with respect to the lower cover 2; a second supporting part 26 for determining a mounting position in a horizontal direction of the upper cover 3 with respect to the lower cover 2; and a sealing part 27 performing the seal between the lower cover 2 and the upper cover 3. By this configuration, formation of a recess or the like in an edge lower end 3A of the upper cover 3 is unnecessary, and changes in the thickness of a sidewall of the upper cover 3 are unnecessary, thereby preventing sinking. Further, preparation of another engaging member for positioning the upper cover 3 with respect to the lower cover 2 is unnecessary.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
