<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber for amplification capable of outputting light with good beam quality even when a high order mode is excited and an optical fiber amplifier with using the optical fiber for amplification. <P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber for amplification 50 includes a core 51 and a clad 52 coating the core 51. The core 51 transmits light of a predetermined wavelength in at least an LP01 mode, an LP02 mode or an LP03 mode. An active element is doped into the core 51 with higher density than that of the core center in at least a part of area where the LP01 mode intensity is stronger than that of at least of the LP02 mode and the LP03 mode, when the LP01 mode, the LP02 mode and the LP03 mode are normalized by power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
