The device has a measuring unit (30) for detecting liquid level (12) of fluid (15) in an area of a measuring channel (20), and a storage container (10) hydraulically connected with the channel over a connection point (17). The measuring unit is arranged at an outer side of the channel. The channel has a measuring channel wall (21) that limits the channel, where the connection point is arranged between the container and the channel. A hydraulic damping element is arranged in the channel, and a signal body is arranged in the channel, where the measuring unit has light-emitting sources i.e. LEDs. An independent claim is also included for a method for storing fluid and for detecting liquid level of fluid in a storage container.
