摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of performing high speed transmission without degrading a high frequency signal by reducing the length of wiring (wire bonding). <P>SOLUTION: An optical module comprises first substrates 1 on which an optical device 12a of a light-emitting side and an optical device 12b of a light-receiving side are respectively mounted. The optical module further comprises an external waveguide 2 for optically connecting the optical device 12a of the light-emitting side and the optical device 12b of the light-receiving side to each other. With the first substrate 1 of the light-emitting side and the first substrate 1 of the light-receiving side thus provided, the optical module further comprises second substrates 6 on which a signal processing part 4a for sending an electric signal to the optical device 12b and a signal processing part 4b for receiving an electric signal from the optical device 12b are respectively mounted. A lowering portion 1g is formed on the surface of the first substrate 1, so that a land 12e formed on the side of the optical device 12a may be lowered toward a land 4c of the signal processing part 4a formed on the side of the optical device 12a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
