<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge a color area, while reducing the bias of the use frequency of each recording element of a recording head. <P>SOLUTION: A used color combination obtaining part 52 obtains a combination of ink colors used at each gradation value, on the basis of data after color conversion. A binarization part 53 executes binarization processing for the data after color conversion. An assigned pattern storage part 54 stores a plurality of pass mask patterns set for each combination of ink colors. An assigned pattern selection part 55 selects an assigned pass mask pattern, on the basis of the combination of ink colors obtained by the used color combination obtaining part 52, by referring to the plurality of pass mask patterns stored in the assigned pattern storage part 54.
