<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of reducing influence of hub vortex. <P>SOLUTION: This propulsion device for a marine vessel includes a propeller 4, a rudder 5 mounted behind the propeller, and a fluid supply means 9 mounted to the rudder for supplying fluid to a direction of a boss 2 of the propeller. The fluid supply means 9 includes a pressure device 10 for pushing the fluid, and piping 11 for introducing the fluid pushed by the pressure device 10 to a position of the boss 2. An edge of the boss 2 on a side facing to the rudder 5 is formed with a hollow 13. The influence of hub vortex is suppressed by the fluid supply.
