<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery which is less likely to cause short circuit of an electrode plate. <P>SOLUTION: The secondary battery 1 comprises a battery container 2, a laminate 4 housed in the battery container 2 and including a plurality of electrode plates, and a frame 3 arranged between the laminate 4 and the battery container 2 to surround the laminate annularly when a plurality of insulating plates engage with each other. An engaging part and an engaged part are formed, respectively, on the end faces of two insulating plates engaging with each other.
