PURPOSE: A local content providing portable terminal and method thereof are provided to reduce the loss of resources by interlocking with a content server and by enabling a portable terminal to download small amount data from the content server. CONSTITUTION: An agent database(110) stores local content information including location information. A location recognition unit(120) the location information of a portable terminal from a position determination providing server. The location recognition unit transmits the received location information to an operation module unit(130). The calculation module unit compares the transmitted location information and the stored local content information including the location information. An application interface unit(140) provides a local content list located at an adjacent location to a user.
