ON-AXIS PROJECTION LENS WITH OFFSET

Methods and systems are provided for projecting images with high degrees of image offset while limiting the physical offset of the projection lens elements. A disclosed embodiment has a display panel (702) with an optical axis (704), a first lens element (706) with an optical axis (708) decentered by a first distance (D1) from the display panel optical axis (704), and a second lens element (710) with an optical axis (712) decentered by a second distance (D2) from the display panel optical axis 704. The methods and systems limit the displacement of the optical elements relative to the optical axis of a display panel and enable a very thin, efficient projector.
